All flights were delayed at the Indira Gandhi International airport due to foggy weather.
As dense fog covered the Delhi sky on Monday morning, all flights were delayed at the Indira Gandhi International airport, stranding thousands of passengers at the terminals.
"Between 0900 hrs to 1000 hrs the RVR on RWY NO. 29 saw a sharp decline. The flight departures continued from RWY 28. Now, normal operations and the visibility is improving," Delhi International Airport Limited said in a statement.
Due to the foggy weather, at least 13 trains to and from Delhi were also rescheduled after getting delayed by at least 2 hours.
As per the Skymet Weather, a private weather forecasting agency, from today onwards dense to very dense fog is expected to make an appearance over Northern Plains. Intensity of fog during that time will be much more and visibility may drop down to zero. The reason for foggy mornings will be attributed to the scattered rainfall in the region.
20 flights to and from the Bengaluru airport were also delayed this morning due to fog.
Several airlines including Vistara and IndiGo put out travel advisories asking their passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
"Due to dense fog in Delhi and Bangalore, flight delays are expected for both arrivals and departures with likely consequential impact on flights across network. We will keep updating status as we receive new info," Vistara said.

Foggy weather in the capital also forced delay of several trains. The trains -- Kaifiyat Express, Poorva Express, Magadh Express, and Rewa-Anand Vihar Superfast Express were delayed by 2 hours each. Owing to low visibility, the railways delayed Gaya Anand Vihar Garib Rath Express, Brahmaputtra Mail Express, Swatantra Senani Superfast Express and Purushottam Express by 3 hours, 5 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours and 4.30 hours respectively.
