Delhi: Youth arrested for circulating fake currency notes

A youth has been arrested for his alleged involvement in circulation of counterfeit Indian currency notes, police said on Tuesday.

The accused Sarvind Yadav (25), who hails from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended near old Delhi railway station here and 153 fake currency notes of Rs 100 denomination were recovered from him, they said.

According to the police, Yadav was trying to purchase belt and purse using fake currency notes from a shopkeeper, who raised an alarm.

"Hearing the noise, police men Yogender and Amit patrolling near old Delhi railway station reached the spot and arrested Yadav. The accused during the interrogation disclosed that one Rahul of Azamgarh has given him total 200 currency notes of Rs 100 denomination each to circulate in the market.

"Yadav was told that he would be given Rs 40 for each note that gets circulated in the market. We are in look out for Rahul," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North District), Madhur Verma.
