The Delhi Police have shared with Zee the contents of an affidavit filed before the Delhi High Court, which shows the high prevalence of crime against women in the national capital. However, more shockingly, a substantial chunk of the accused have been revealed to be family members of the victim.

1704 rape cases have already been reported in Delhi so far this year, according to reports.

In 43 cases the father of the girl is accused, in 23 cases it is the step-father, in 27 cases the brother and in one case even a grandfather has been charged.

In 74 cases the brother-in law was accused of rape and the father-in-law has been charged in eight cases.

The total reported cases of molestation in the national capital this year stand at 3485. In 33 cases father of the woman stands accused, in 6 cases it is the step father , in 9 cases the brother , in one case a grandfather, in 58 cases the  father-in-law , in 138 cases the brother-in-law and in 3 cases the step son.

As for 'eve teasing' 1024 cases were reported in Delhi. Shockingly, fathers are accused of this offence in three cases, and a brother in one case.

The statistics bring to light the fact that in Delhi, even homes are apparently unsafe places for women.
