A year after its rout in the capital, Congress puts the best step forward by fielding party vice president Rahul Gandhi for his first roadshow at the Kalkaji assembly seat. He said: ``When will Modi stop speaking and start working?''

Targeting the BJP, Rahul said that it was only favouring some corporate houses. "There are only promises and favouritism towards some three to four corporate houses. But we are the party of the poor," he said. While the Congress has been targeting AAP as the B team of BJP, Gandhi said, "AAP is not our main contender."

Interestingly, state unit managed to attract big crowd for the event, as most of them had come to see Rahul Gandhi. Besides the state party unit, the Youth Congress and the NSUI, the student wing of the Congress party, too had pitched in their resources to make the event a success for the Congress.

"We came here, because we were told that we will get to share the open truck with Rahul Gandhi," said the disappointed Mohd Rashid. Rashid has joined Youth Congress just to have a close glimpse of the Gandhi family.

For the over enthusiastic school children living in the Rajiv Gandhi Transit Camp, a samosa and a can of juice was enough to keep them moving ahead of the Gandhi convoy. Most of them missed school, to hold flags and shout slogans.

"We have got free chest batches, flags and caps. After the road show we will be getting a sandwich and a cola bottle," said Sonu. Sonu reads in fourth standard in the nearby municipal school. On Tuesday he chose to miss school and participate in the road show.

It is a very rare occasion in this camp, when the great grandson of India's first family visits their area. "He is a descendent of the royal family. It is because of his grandparents that we are a free nation today. I have come here to support him," said Kusum Devi. Kusum is the third generation of the family which has been a Congress loyalist.

Gandhi who was late by almost an hour, kept his calm throughout the show, with a smile on his face. Through out the road show which lasted for about an hour and a half, Gandhi was seen constantly waving at the crowd, but had very little to offer.

Harping on the old tunes of bringing in the RTI act and MNREGA, Gandhi said, "We have three issues for Delhi. We will give cheap water and power. We will give every body a permanent job and bring an end to contractual labour. The congress will also provide right to shelter for everyone."
