Both Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal, who are chief ministerial candidate of BJP and AAP respectively, on Wednesday filed their nomination for the February 7 Delhi assembly elections.

Before filing her nomination papers, Kiran Bedi took out a roadshow from Krishna Nagar constituency of East Delhi, which is BJP's traditional stronghold and paid tribute to freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai and also cleaned his statue.

Bedi met tea and newspaper sellers in Krishna Nagar and enquired about the kind of problem they are facing.

Amid reports of rift within the party, senior BJP leader and Home Minister Rajnath Singh denied any crisis and said the party stands united to face Delhi Assembly polls.

Speaking to reporters, Arvind Kejriwal said, "Our fight is not against any person or political party. It's against corruption and price rise.

"Last time the people of Delhi had gives us a huge mandate. I hope the people give us the full mandate for running the government for five years," he said.

In the last Assembly elections, the activist-turned- politician had defeated the Congress' three-time chief minister Sheila Dikshit in the New Delhi seat by a margin of around 22,000 votes.

Earlier, the AAP supremo slammed BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi over reports of her garlanding a statue of Lala Lajpat Rai by a BJP scarf.

"At least spare freedom fighters. Don't saffronise them. A freedom fighter does not belong to any party. He belongs to the country. We should not divide him into BJP, or Congress or this and that party," he said.

Responding to the charges of the disgruntled candidates of Mehrauli and Mundka, who were replaced by AAP today, Kejriwal said the action was taken after "truth" was found in the complaints against them.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Ajay Maken today dubbed AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi as "opportunists" who "used" Anna Hazare to meet their own political ambitions.

Maken also said that  the merger of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is surely going to happen in the coming days as most of the AAP members have joined the BJP.

"Both these leaders represent the same opportunistic forces. Both of them used Anna Hazare and the issue of corruption to come to the fore. They were earlier in the garb of an NGO and now they want to meet their own political ambitions," the Congress Campaign Committee chief said.

Earlier in the day, Aam Aadmi Party cancelled the ticket of its two candidates - Govardhan Singh from Mehrauli and Rajendra Dabas from Mundk. The party claims internal Lokpal has found charges against them.

A day ago, Kejriwal had invited Kiran Bedi for a public debate, after congratulating her for being nominated as the BJP's chief ministerial candidate for the Delhi polls. Kejriwal also requested Bedi to unblock him from her Twitter account.

Both Kejriwal and Bedi were part of the anti-corruption movement led by activist Anna Hazare before the AAP chief decided to form his own political party. Bedi was named as BJP's chief ministerial candidate on Monday night and will be fielded from Krishna Nagar seat in Delhi while Kejriwal will contest Delhi from the New Delhi constituency.

The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 7, with the counting of votes set to take place on February 10.
