The Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to meet here today to discuss strategies for its campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

According to reports, the 21-member committee, headed by Delhi BJP Chief Satish Upadhyay, will discuss election preparations and how to reach out to the voters.

The committee comprises all the seven Delhi MPs -- Harsh Vardhan, Meenakshi Lekhi, Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma, Udit Raj, Manoj Tiwari, Ramesh Bidhuri and Mahesh Girri.

Apart from these MPs, Rajya Sabha member and former Delhi BJP President Vijay Goel, senior party leader Jagdish Mukhi, Vijay Kumar Malhotra are also members of this committee.

In the last Assembly polls in Delhi in 2013, the BJP had bagged 31 seats in addition to one by its ally Shiromani Akali Dal, falling short of a simple majority in the 70-member House. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had won in 28 seats, followed by eight of Congress.

Meanwhile, the Congress has released its second list of 25 candidates for the upcoming Delhi elections.

The party has fielded party General Secretary Ajay Maken from Sadar Bazar seat. Former MP, Mahabal Mishra will contest from Dwarka, while senior leader Yogananad Shashtri from Malviya Nagar. Party veteran Prem Singh will try his luck from the Ambedkar Nagar constituency. The name of former Minister Kiran Walia does not figure in the list, though she has announced her candidature from New Delhi seat against Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal.

The Congress has also given ticket to senior BJP leader Jagdish Mukhi's son-in-law, Suresh Kumar from the Janakpuri assembly constituency. Mukhi had won last election from this seat.

So far, the Congress has announced 49 candidates for the 70-member assembly.
