After reaching out to the youth, The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday set out its agenda to woo women voters by promising CCTVs connected with wi-fi across the national capital, more courts to deal with women related cases and adequate street lights on roads.

Addressing the second Delhi Dialogue session, party's initiative to connect with masses ahead of Delhi assembly election, former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal listed out his plans for women security if his party is voted to power. He said if AAP wins Delhi, his government will deploy marshals in the DTC buses to deal with harassment cases, a mobile application for safety of women commuters so that the culprit can face music then and there, and deployment of 12,000 Home Guards and 55,000 civil defence personnel for protection.

"If cameras are installed there will be fear in the minds of those indulging in wrong activities. All global cities have CCTVs and we will set these cameras across parks, Metro, buses and other public spaces. "Street lighting is a major issue and many women feel unsafe while returning home or reaching their destination after dark. Although the job of having streetlights is of the MCDs, which is controlled by the BJP, our party will ensure that all roads are well lit and a provision will be made to give them uninterrupted electricity," Kejriwal said.

The former Delhi chief minister noted that while he was in power, his government had asked the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court to have more courts to deal with the cases related to women harassment.
"When we have our government, we will ensure enough courts so that cases in which women are subjected to harassment can be decided in six months," he said. After promising free wifi across Delhi, he said a mobile application would be devised to help women in SOS situation.

"Women can press a button from their mobile phones when in distress. Since the phone would be connected to wi-fi it would be easy to detect the lady and police can reach in five minutes," Kejriwal said. Stating that cases of exploitation and harassment of women were observed in places like JJ clusters as they lacked toilet facilities, he said his party would build 1.5 lakh toilet seats in such areas and 50,000 more toilets across Delhi. He said his government would also give the right to women to pass a resolution to close down liqour shop in their respective area.
