Delhi polls: 43 FIRs against parties for model code violations, AAP tops the list

As many as 43 FIRs have so far been lodged against different political parties in Delhi for violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

"Eighteen FIRs have been registered against the Aam Aadmi Party and 12 against BJP for violation of the MCC. Eight and three FIRs have been registered against Congress and BSP, respectively, till yesterday," the Chief Electoral Officer's office said in a statement on Thursday. The Model Code of Conduct for the February 7 Delhi Assembly elections came into force on January 13. Meanwhile, the CEO's office said a total of six nomination papers were filed from as many seats on the second day of filing of nomination on 

Of the six candidates, two were Independent. Rakesh of Gareeb Aadmi Party (GAP) filed his nomination from Trilokpuri. Ram Babu, a candidate of Rashtriya Bahujan Hitay, filed his papers from Bawana constituency. Independent candidates - Preeti and Manager Chaurasia -- filed their nominations from Shahdara and Burari seats, respectively. Kashinath Sah of Gareeb Aadmi Party and Radhey Shyam Gupta of Bharatiya Jan Lokpal have filed their nomination papers from Palam and New Delhi.

The CEO's office said as many as 2,644 persons have been booked so far. As preventive measures, 27 licensed arms have been deposited and one unlicensed arm and four cartridges have been seized so far.
Taking action against illegal hoardings, 914 such hoardings have been removed from public property so far. Till date, 23 bottles of IMFL, 66 bottles of country liquor and 72 beer bottles have been seized.
