Delhi Police Chief BS Bassi has directed SHOs and sub-divisional ACPs send to conduct daily visits at churches and Christian institutes and end in the daily report , says an Indian Express report.

A 24X7 helpline, a Facebook page and Twitter handle will aslo be launced to address the community's security concerns. ACPs have been ordered to engage with the administrations of the Church and Christian institutions on a daily basis, says the report .

These measures have been acted upon after Bassi was called by the Home Ministry following a theft at a South Delhi Christian school.

A Delhi police officer was quoted in the report saying, “We are taking extra steps to ensure that the community feels safe in Delhi. In case they face any trouble, they have been asked to immediately report it to the area SHO or the sub-divisional ACP,”.

The spate of attacks on Delhi's churches and other Christian institutions around the run up to Delhi polls has resulted into speculations that they might have been carried by Hindutva groups.One of the reasons for BJP's massive defeat to AAP was attributed to the attacks leading Christian voters supporting Kejriwal's party. The Delhi police has maintained that attacks were theft and vandalism incidents and were not communal.

PM Narendra Modi at an event on February 18 to celebrate the elevation of members of church to sainthood of had said, We will not allow anyone to spread hatred",  while FM Arun Jaitley condemed the church attacks saying "these incidents and people have no place in India."
