The former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Minister Sandeep Kumar who was sacked after an alleged sex scandal, is now campaigning for the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Delhi MCD polls.

Kumar who was the SC/ST Welfare and Women and Child Development Minister in the Delhi government was on Sunday seen campaigning door-to-door for Savita Khatri, BJP candidate from Narela.

I am campaigning for Savita Khatri, BJP candidate from Narela and would campaign for all friends from BJP, BSP or Congress, Kumar told ABP News.

Meanwhile, the BJP said that Kumar had not been called to campaign. "BJP never invited him for campaign. BJP Office Bearers & Karyakartas sent him back from rally venue in few seconds," said Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal S Bagga.

Kumar also lashed out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.  He said, “Kejriwal is making attempts to befool and mislead the people of the country via jhaadu (broom, the party symbol)”.

Kumar was arrested on September 3 after a woman had approached Sultanpuri police station in North Delhi complaining of sexual harassment against the ex-Social Welfare and Women and Child Development minister, following which a case was filed. The woman had figured in an objectionable video with him.

The MLA from Sultanpur Majra was removed from AAP government on August 31 by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after the CD surfaced. He had defended himself saying he has been targeted.

He was granted bail on November 7, 2016  by a Delhi court which directed him not to tamper with the evidence.
