A 22-year-old Delhi man lost almost half of his tongue after his pregnant wife allegedly bit it off while kissing him.
The man underwent a surgery at Safdarjung Hospital but doctors said it is difficult to say whether he will be able to talk again. His condition was said to be stable. The incident was reported from outer Delhi's Ranhola on Saturday night.
Locals said that the woman was not happy as she felt her husband was not good-looking. However, the couple had compatibility issues and had regular fights, the police said, adding the husband is a street artiste.
According to the police, the victim Karan Singh had an altercation over some domestic issue with her wife Kajal Singh, 22, at around 11 pm. The issue was sorted and after a patch up, the couple went to their room.
And the next time she kissed him she bit almost half of his tongue off, they added.
“Later around midnight, when the couple was kissing in their room, Kajal bit off Karan’s tongue. The man rushed out of room calling for help. He was bleeding profusely from his mouth. The family members then called up the police and the man was rushed to a hospital where he underwent a surgery in emergency,” said a senior police officer.
The police were informed by the victim's father about the incident.
The woman has been detained and a case has been registered under section 326 of the IPC, which pertains to voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, punishable with life imprisonment, the police said.
According to Deputy commissioner of police (outer), Seju P Kuruvilla said a case under section 326 (causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) has been registered against the woman.
The woman is eight months pregnant and has been detained, the police said.
The couple has been married since November 2016.
