Delhi L-G sanctions Rs 1 crore for slain cop

Lieutenant governor of Delhi Najib Jung has sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the slain traffic cop Mana Ram’s family on Tuesday. Mana Ram was run over by three people in a Ritz car when he was on duty in north-west Delhi on Saturday. 

LG also said that the department will also consider providing job to one of the members of the bereaved family.

Delhi Police commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi had already announced an additional help of Rs 20 lakh for the Mana Ram’s family from police welfare fund.

Police have also constituted a special investigation team (SIT) comprising Eish Singhal, an assistant commissioner of police assisted by two inspector rank officials from crime and traffic branches.

Home minister Rajnath Singh who had visited the police headquarters on Monday had also expressed solidarity to family of deceased cop.

Mana Ram (25) who hailed from Rajasthan was crushed to death after he stopped three youth going in Ritz car in north-west Delhi on Sunday. 

Mana Ram asked them to take a detour as they were coming from wrong side but instead of listening to his advice, the driver ran him over. All three accused were arrested.
