Delhi Elections: Over 110 FIRs lodged so far for violating model code

As many as 111 FIRs have so far been registered against different political parties for violating the model code of conduct in the run up to Delhi Assembly elections. According to the office of Delhi Chief Electoral Officer, out of 111 FIRs, 48 have been lodged against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) while 22 FIRs were registered against BJP for violating the model code.

As many as 111 FIRs have so far been registered against different political parties for violating the model code of conduct in the run up to Delhi Assembly elections. According to the office of Delhi Chief Electoral Officer, out of 111 FIRs, 48 have been lodged against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) while 22 FIRs were registered against BJP for violating the model code.

"26 FIRs and eight FIRs were lodged against the Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party respectively," CEO's office said in a statement. It said that a sum of Rs 2.5 lakh was seized by different authorities.

Till January 19, 9,313 people were booked under various sections of CRPC/DP Act and as preventive action measure, 72 licensed arms were deposited while 10 unlicensed arms and 1,039 cartridges were seized. For the violation of MCC, a total number of 1,557 hoardings were removed from public property so far.

He also said that till date, 186 bottles, 21,255 quarters of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, 166 bottles, 23 half and 15,952 quarters of country-made liquor were seized as part of expenditure management measure.
