Terming BJP's drubbing in the Delhi Assembly elections as a matter of "concern and consideration" for the party, Union Social Justice Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot on Wednesday said the party would formulate a plan of action after identifying the reasons for the defeat. The senior BJP leader also said AAP had an advantage in the elections as it started preparations about a year ago.

"It is a matter of concern and consideration for the BJP (chinta aur chintan vishay)," he said on the sidelines of the event to present Dr Ambedkar National Merit Awards to meritorious students here.

BJP suffered a humiliating defeat in the just-concluded elections for the Delhi assembly, securing a paltry three seats, while AAP registered a landslide victory winning 67 of the total 70 seats.

"Arvind Kejriwal was preparing for elections for the last one year and he had made promises to people of Delhi, which is difficult to fulfil," Gehlot said, while adding the people of Delhi would realise it after an year.

Congratulating Kejriwal on his victory, the Union Minister expressed hope that the AAP would fulfil those promises that the party has made to the people. Gehlot further said that BJP has not lost the battle ground, saying the party had won 282 Lok Sabha seats starting from just two seats.

"We are not disappointed... We have lost the battle but not the battleground. We had won two Lok Sabha seats in 1984, but raised the numbers to 282," he noted. Earlier, he gave away Dr. Ambedkar National Merit Awards to meritorious students of Secondary & Sr. Secondary Examinations-2014.
