Delhi: Domestic help 'hangs himself' at residence of Air Force chief Birender Singh Dhanoa

According to the police, Manoj Kumar worked at Dhanoa's residence on 23 Akbar Road as a contractual employee, but did not inhabit the servants' quarters.

A 30-year-old domestic help employed at the residence of Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at the IAF chief's home in Lutyens' Delhi on Thursday afternoon.

According to the police, Manoj Kumar worked at Dhanoa's residence on 23 Akbar Road as a contractual employee, but did not inhabit the servants' quarters. He resided in North-East Delhi's Gokulpuri area.

Police officials said they rushed to Dhanoa's residence after receiving a call about the incident. The police team that arrived at the scene said the servants' quarters was found locked from inside, and they had to break open the door. "Kumar was found hanging from the ceiling fan," said Madhur Verma, deputy commissioner of police, New Delhi area.

The police have said that it appeared Manoj Kumar was stressed out with some personal issues and was suffering from depression. His family members have been informed about the incident.
