According to police, on Sunday morning, Vijendra called Nikki and asked her to meet him at a park in Dwarka Sector 4 area at 11 am. Following a brief argument, the cop shot the woman dead and then tried to kill himself.
A 30-year-old Delhi Police sub-inspector on Sunday morning shot dead a woman and then committed suicide in a park situated in Delhi's south west region. While the 27-year-old woman died on the spot, the cop succumbed to injuries later in the evening after undergoing treatment at All India Institute Of Medical Science. Both of them are said to be married and were having 'issues' with their respective spouses.
The sub inspector, identified as Vijendra Bishnoi, was allegedly in a relationship with the deceased woman named Nikki Chauhan for over a year now and carried out the violent act following a dispute with her.
While the woman, who worked as a stringer for a local news channel had filed for divorce, Vijendra's wife, who lives in Rajasthan, had also lodged complaints against him several times accusing him of domestic abuse.
"The concerned officer was having some domestic issues and was not even coming to work for the past 15 days. Last night he finally joined back and requested issuance of his service revolver along with 10 rounds of bullets," said a senior police officer. The sub-inspector was posted in Ranhola police station of west Delhi.

dna spoke to one of the eye-witness's to the incident. The eye witness, who irons clothes, said that he had seen the couple for the first time on Sunday.
"The male shot the woman's leg first. As the woman lay on the ground, she cried for help and was trying to reach out for her phone when the male shot her second time in the chest. At this point we all panicked and sent for police. Just when I and some other locals were thinking how to save the girl, the male shot himself twice and collapsed on the ground," the eye witness told dna.
It was at this point some locals attempted to approach the injured duo but stopped soon after. "As we were walking towards them slowly, we saw the woman was trying to get up on her feet. She stood up for a few seconds and then collapsed. The male, who was still conscious, seeing her alive, shot her again and I think that's when she died," the eye witness further said adding that the cop then cried out for help.
Locals cops arrived soon after and took duo to hospital where the woman was declared dead upon arrival. Vijendra succumbed later. Senior police officers did not delve into the exact reason behind the cop's action but told dna that the pressure of domestic issue and discord with Nikki might have led him to take such a step.
"We are investigating the matter and comment when something conclusive comes up during the probe," said RA Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south west).
