Delhi: Congress to gauge public mood before releasing manifesto

Seeking to gauge the public mood before putting out its poll manifesto, the Delhi Congress on Saturday decided to hold consultations with a cross-section of the society apart from taking the views of its former MPs and MLAs.

The decisions were taken at the meetings of the Manifesto Committee and the Publicity Committee of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) which were attended by former Union Minister Krishna Tirath and former Minister of the Delhi government Kiran Walia among others.

"It was decided that before giving final shape to the election manifesto, the suggestions and opinions of those who work in various sectors of the society, the common people and social organisations, would be taken into consideration," DPCC spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said.

The party also decided to hold a workshop next week for its former MPs and MLAs, Municipal Councillors, former district presidents where their opinions would be invited for incorporating in the manifesto.

"The manifesto would not be a document making hollow promises to the people, but would be the one with a clear vision. It will also raise BJP's and AAP's betrayal of the people of Delhi, for which a sub-committee would be formed," Sharma added.
