The fanfare with which the Delhi unit of BJP launched its election campaign for the upcoming MCD polls with creative posters, slogans, has not impressed party leaders who lashed out and summoned state leaders, including State President Manoj Tiwari. The Central leaders were annoyed and furious and wanted him to replace all the posters and slogans immediately, sources said.

The state leaders had officially launched the posters and slogans on Friday in Constitution Club in Lutyens' Delhi, spending lakhs of rupees. The event was attended by several party leaders, including Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, National Vice President.

The central leaders were apparently annoyed with the theme 'Naye Chehre, Nayi Oorja, Nayi Udaan…Dilli Maange Kamal Nishaan', that suggests a change from the old order.

They also said that that the word naye chehre (new faces) will send wrong signals to voters and also casts sitting councillors, who were denied ticket, in bad light. The party has decided not to give tickets to 154 sitting councillors for the upcoming polls.

"The central leadership is not happy with few words like nayi oorja (new energy) among others, saying that it fails to make an impact. They have directed the state unit to come up with a new theme for the civic polls. They also directed that once the new theme is ready, the party must withdraw the one released on Friday," party sources said. Unimpressed by the over all rhetoric underlying the slogan, the central leadership also asked the state unit to come up with new slogans by the next week.

Commenting on the theme song written and composed by Tiwari, the central leaders said that the songs are good but they are not "emphatic" and "aggressive". They asked the state unit to record a song exposing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his party's (Aam Admi Party) false promises.

On Friday, while launching the theme song, Tiwari had said that there is a lot of negativity in the atmosphere and Delhiites are being misguided by the government. So, the BJP decided to start its campaign on a positive note. But central leaders said they want songs that can excite and draw voters to the polling booths. They also said that through songs they should expose AAP's two-year misrule in the city.
