From erecting LED screens to distributing sweets, BJP workers in the national capital today celebrated Narendra Modi's swearing in-ceremony like Diwali festival.

As President Pranab Mukherjee administered oath to Modi, the Delhi BJP unit celebrated his swearing-in ceremony by distributing sweets, illuminating streets and bursting firecrackers across the city. All district units of the party organised a public-gathering programme in their respective areas where they installed LED screens for the live telecast of Modi's swearing-in ceremony. Besides, human chains were formed by the supporters, who also sang Vande Mataram at various places.

In Chandni Chowk, from where Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan won the elections, workers installed LCD screens for the live telecast of swearing-in ceremony and illuminated main markets. Similarly, supporters also organised cultural programmes in Pitampura area where they also distributed sweets among the people and burst firecrackers. "Modi's swearing-in ceremony is like Diwali celebration for BJP workers as well as common people as with taking charge of PM office, good days are about to come," Delhi BJP's spokesperson Harish Khurana said.

The swearing-in ceremony was telecast live on LED screens in Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, Paharganj, South Extension, Pitampura, Rohini, Shalimar Bagh, Shahdara, Mayur Vihar, Sarojani Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Narela, Nangloi, Burari, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Karawal Nagar, Preet Vihar, Uttam Nagar, Palam, Najafgarh, Mehrauli, Sangam Vihar, Sarita Vihar and Badarpur Market.

BJP supporters also hoisted party flags on top of their houses and also burst firecrackers in their respective areas. BJP workers also danced to the beat of drums and distributed sweets in the juhggi clusters to poor people and children in Yamuna Vihar, Shalimar Bagh, Karawal Nagar, Preet Vihar, Burari, Najafgarh and among others. "The whole world today witnessed the oath taking ceremony of Modi and his cabinet. It was the responsibility of Delhi BJP to make this day a memorable one," Khurana also added. Painting competitions were also organised in all the Mandals and awards were given to the winners by the district office bearers.

"Everyone is in such a celebratory mood. The people are excited and the energy here is electric. Modi promises to be the panacea for the problems which have plagued the nation since the last few years," Kavita Sharma, a BJP worker said. Some workers from neighbouring cities like Gurgaon, Rohtak and Noida also headed for Delhi's BJP office where they watched live telecast of Modi's swearing-in ceremony on a LED screen. "I am ecstatic to be here on such an important occasion. Today is a memorable day. Narendra Modi is our leader and he will take India to new heights." Shambu, a BJP worker who had travelled from Rohtak, said.

Besides, Ghaziabad's unit also organised programme in Kavi Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Vaishali and Indirapuram areas of the district. Supporters also distributed sweets among the school children and people.
