The Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi will start budget consultation with public in 12 Assembly constituencies from Sunday.

According to a senior official, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will start the budget consultation from Patparganj, the Assembly constituency of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Also, 12 Assembly constituencies have been finalised where public meetings will be held to seek public suggestions on Delhi's budget, which will be tabled in the Assembly in the first week of June.

"The idea is to cover all 70 constituencies during the five-year tenure. This time we have chosen 12 constituencies where public meetings will be held and locals will come up with their issues. The Chief Minister will start the public meeting from Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sidosia's Patparganj constituency," a senior government official said.

The government has also come up with an advertisement seeking suggestions on the budget through email. The AAP government has decided to seek public opinion for the budget preparation to decentralise decision making.

"Delhi has been divided in 12 segments and Rs 20 crore will be allotted to each. These segments will be further divided into 40 parts so each gets Rs 50 lakh. People can raise their local issues and at the end of the day, voting will be done. Issue which gets maximum votes will be done on priority," the official said.
