Oza was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the ninth Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad organised by MIT school of government and MIT world peace university here on Friday.
Spiritual leader Ramesh Oza on Friday stated that Lord Ganesh should be declared as the national god of the country. “We have national anthem, national symbol, national animal, but we do not have national god. Ganpati can be that national god for the country,” he said.
Oza was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the ninth Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad organised by MIT school of government and MIT world peace university here on Friday.
Addressing the audience, Oza said, “If someone says that ours' is a secular country and how can we have a national god, I want to tell them that Lord Ganesh is a secular god in true sense and therefore, should be declared as the national god of our country,” he said.
Describing the symbolism of Lord Ganesh, Oza said that Ganesh is often referred to as the elephant-headed god but people fail to understand the deeper meaning of it. Drawing parallel with the characteristics of the Ganesh's appearance with the political leadership, Oza said, “The way Lord Ganesh has big ears, the political leadership of the country should have big ears to listen to people of the country. The leadership should also have the foresight like Ganesh's eyes, and his big belly refers that the leadership should keep all the secrets with them.”
Referring to Lord Ganesha's Vahana or the vehicle in the form of mouse, Oza said, “While the leadership is like Lord Ganesha, the people of the country are like that mouse which carries Ganesha. The way the huge figure of the Ganesha does not put burden on the mouse, the leadership also should make sure that they do not levy too many taxes on people which will put extra burden on people.”
The three day seminar will be concluding on Sunday.
