Dead Man Walking: Karnataka teenager wakes up on the way to his funeral

From being presumed to be dead to waking up on the way to his funeral, this tale about a teenager in Hubli is astounding!

17-year-old daily wage worker Kumar Marewad from Managundi village in Dharwad was bitten by a stray dog one month ago. He was suffering from high fever since last week and was admitted to a hospital. Doctors put him on life support but since they said his chances were slim, the family took him home.

Later, when Kumar's relatives noticed no body movement they presumed him to be dead and made arrangements for his last rites. But on the way to the funeral, Kumar opened his eyes, moved his arms and legs and started breathing heavily.

Shocked, his relatives took him to Gokul hospital. The doctor said he is suffering from meningoencephalitis, an infection caused due to a dog bite, and he has been put on ventilator.

Kumar's parents are also daily wage labourers and have appealed for money for his treatment.
