The murder took place on May, 18 when Sagar Shejwal the youth who was studying nursing had come to his home in Shirdi for a wedding, went to a local beer shop with two of his cousins. According to the police, he was assaulted by the men for having the song about Ambedkar as his ringtone. The men, who were at the shop heard the song when his phone rang.
