Dalit marriage party attacked by mob over playing music

A marriage party of 12 persons was allegedly attacked by a mob with stones over playing music at Sonta village here, police said today.

At least 12 Dalits of a marriage party were attacked by a mob when the party started playing music in their bus when they reached Sonta village under Mansoorpur police station area yesterday, they said. As per the complaint lodged by the bus driver, the incident occurred when the marriage party of Servender coming from Firozpur reached Sonta and continued playing music in the vehicle which was objected by the villagers, police said.

When the bus was about to leave the village for Firozpur, a mob comprising of about 25 villagers attacked the members with stones, they said. A case has been registered in the incident and efforts are on to nab the absconding accused, police said. The injured have been admitted to a hospital, they added.
