Calls for revenge against Muslims and a revolution were heard in Bisara village of Uttar Pradesh's Dadri area where tension continue to simmer after body of Ravi Sisodia, an accused in the murder of Mohamad Akhlaq, was brought back to his native. Wrapped in a tri-colour, Ravi's body was placed in the heart of the village with an open casket with villagers refusing to cremate until demands of villagers are fulfilled by the UP government.

The area reeled under heavy security deployment throughout the day and armed police officials were directed to keep a vigil on Thursday night despite day-long negotiations between the UP administration and villagers led by Ravi's kin. The villagers here have made six demands and told authorities that the body will not be cremated until all demands are met. Among the demands is a demand for compensation of Rs1 crore, government job for Ravi's wife, suspension of jail officials, who allegedly beat up Ravi, arrest of Jan Mohammad, the brother of Akhlaq whom the villagers believe had slaughtered a cow and finally an inquiry into the death of Ravi by Central Bureau of Investigation.

While a judicial probe had already been initiated into Ravi's death, villagers believe there is foul play involved. In fact the situation in Dadri deteriorated when Ravi Sisodia, who was earlier lodged in Kasna jail after being arrested for allegedly taking part in lynching of Akhlaq last year, died while receiving treatment in a Delhi hospital. While police and even counsel for the accused have claimed that Ravi was suffering from chikangunya, villagers claimed that he died due to injuries inflicted on him by police following a fight that took place between him and other inmates of Kasna jail.

The day saw a heated environment throughout with local leaders and some villagers making provoking statements and calling for "revenge". Close to 300 villagers attended speeches made by local leaders as well as Sadhvi Prachi who called for a "revolution ". "Hindus must unite against this government. The incident has to be converted into a revolution," Prachi said." I had said then, till their families get justice I won't be quiet Hindus , it's your test now,"she added referring to the 18 people charged with murdering Akhlaq last year in September. Another speaker identified as Kapil Bhati said, "We have to seek revenge. Hindus are not wearing bangles. We will uproot these mullahs from roots,"he said to the crowd.

Till the filing of this story the body was still not cremated and administration officials were in talks about two of the demands made by the angry villagers. Rs10 lakh for Ravi's family was announced and the an internal probe will be launched to establish if the jail officials were allegedly involved in Ravi's death.

NP Singh, Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate, said the state government would give its consent for a CBI probe if the deceased's family is not satisfied with the ongoing inquiry. Local police said they were trying their best to pacify the villagers but it remains to be seen how situation will pan out on Friday.
