Cyclone Hudhud: 558 people evacuated by NDRF

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Sunday evacuated around 558 people after Cyclone Hudhud made its landfall in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on Sunday.

A dead body of a one year old child was also recovered from the debris.

In order to resume the operation of aircrafts, work of runway clearance at Vizag airport is underway at the Navy airport- INS Dega, according to a navy statement.

The official statement also indicated that both the runways at naval air station INS Dega will be fit for flying by 2.30 pm on Monday.

The eye of Cyclone Hudhud crossed the coast of between Vishakhapatnam and Bheemilipatnam at 11.30 am yesterday.

The cyclone had been moving at a speed of approximately 20 kmph with wind speeds of 180 kmph.

The winds reduced considerably as the eye of the storm passed over the region. However, the rainfall is likely to continue for next few hours.
