A 2.23-acre plot, near CGO complex belonging to Delhi Waqf board, has been sold to the Union Home Ministry for construction of accommodation.

“The matter is pending in court, yet Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other agencies have already begun to occupy it illegally,” says Firoz Ghazi, the advocate who is fighting the case in Delhi High Court. The court had recently asked the parties to submit a detailed affadivit.

According to an Urban Development Ministry letter dated 28.02.2017, written to the Secretary ministry of Home Affairs, the land was allotted to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for construction of office accommodation for CRPF, as per the recommendation of the Cabinet Secretariat. The land was then handed over to CRPF on May 22 in 2017.

“CRPF has been facing acute shortage of office accommodation. The Ministry of Urban Development gave approval for the allotment of the land,” said a senior official from CRPF.
