CRPF personnel injured in Maoist attack in Sukma

One Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was severely injured on Monday in an attack by Maoists in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.

The injured, Sub-Inspector Mahendra Singh, was admitted to a hospital in Jagdalpur city in Chhattisgarh. A doctor treating Singh, Pradeep Pandey, said the sub inspector would be operated once he is stable.

"He is seriously injured. The bullet is in his chest. We are trying our level best to cure him. When his condition gets better, we will operate upon him. It is not possible to take him to Raipur in this condition. When he gets better post operation, we will shift him," said Pandey.

Rebels apparently opened indiscriminate fire at security officials but fled the spot when security forces retaliated.
