CRPF jawan Manoranjan Lenka cremated with full state honours in Odisha

CRPF jawan Manoranjan Lenka, who was among its nine personnel killed in an IED blast in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday was on Wednesday cremated at his native village in Puri district with state honours.

CRPF jawan Manoranjan Lenka, who was among its nine personnel killed in an IED blast in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday was on Wednesday cremated at his native village in Puri district with state honours.

The slain jawan's body was taken to his native place in Rebana Nuagaon village in the district, and the last rites were performed with full state honours, officials said.

Odisha ministers B N Patra, B K Arukha and S B Behera paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of Lenka after it arrived at the Biju Patnaik Airport. 

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in a tweet, has condemned the attack.

"Strongly condemn the attack on crpfindia jawans in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. My deepest condolences to the families of Odia jawan Manoranjan Lenka and all the brave personnel who lost their lives in the blast, and wishing speedy recovery of those injured," he said.

Nine CRPF personnel were killed after suspected Naxals blew up their mine-protected vehicle in Chhattisgarh's Sukma, around a year after a dozen jawans were killed in a similar ambush in the district.
