Slamming National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah for glorifying the stone-pelters, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official Cheetan Cheeta’s wife Uma Singh on Thursday emphasized on the need for politicians with strong willpower in Kashmir so that they can initiate stringent actions against those disturbing peace in the valley. ‘We need politicians with strong willpower who can take stringent actions who disturb the valley,’ she told ANI.

Taking a dig at Abdullah's recent remark, Singh stated if the former thinks the stone pelters are nationalists then there is a need to ponder upon who are anti-nationals.
"Stone pelting in Kashmir has always been a grave issue and is the biggest hurdle for our armed forces in securing the place. If Farooq Abdullah thinks stone pelters are nationalists then we need to redefine who are anti-nationals," she added.

RPF commander Chetan Cheeta, who was shot nine times during an encounter with terrorists in Kashmir, was on Wednesday discharged from AIIMS after making a "miraculous" recovery . However, doctors said that Cheeta would have to undergo a rehabilitation process in the form of physiotherapy and speech therapy for a few months for complete recovery. Commanding Officer (CO) of the CRPF's 45th battalion in Kashmir Valley, Cheeta, had suffered bullet injuries in his brain, right eye, abdomen, both the arms, left hand and in the buttock region during an encounter with terrorists in Kashmir.

And while the doctors at AIIMS attended to him as part of their duty, the CRPF commander's wife Uma Singh stood beside him with an unshakable conviction that he will make it through.

Cheetah's recovery from nine bullet wounds was nothing short of a miracle for the doctors of AIIMS Trauma Centre but his wife says she had a firm belief that would fight back like he did in the face of terrorists.

Demanding apology from former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said the former is backing stone pelters in the Valley, whom he used to call traitors during his regime. ‘Farooq Abdullah used to call these stone pelters traitors during his government and when his son was the chief minister. They have nothing to do with the nation and religion. Changing statements just for the sake of vote does not suit any politician,’ BJP leader Prabhat Jha told ANI. Echoing similar views, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain dubbed Abdullah’s statement unfortunate while asserting that he always talks contradictory.

‘In Parliament he raises slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Hindustan Jindabad’ on the other hand he is protecting the ones who are pelting stones at Indian Army. This is very saddening and he should apologise for his statement,’ Hussain told ANI.

Slamming the National Conference (NC) president, Farooq Abdullah, for glorifying stone-pelters, Congress leader K. T. S. Tulsi on Thursday accused the Jammu and Kashmir politicians of misleading the children.
‘These children are being misled and the politicians in Jammu and Kashmir should be held responsible for it. The stone-pelters are very young and they should concentrate on studies and make themselves responsible citizen,’ Tulsi told ANI.
Tulsi further stated that the stone-pelting issue entirely depends on tourism and terrorism that should be looked into.
‘This whole scenario is entirely depended on tourism and terrorism, where tourism needs peace while terrorism is increasing day by day for which we have to make an all out effort to eradicate it as soon as possible,’ said Tulsi.
Resonating similar views, Congress spokesperson Meem Afzal stated that Abdullah’s statement is disappointing and will not be accepted.
‘The situation in Kashmir has always been bad especially on the social security terms. Farooq Abdullah’s statement is disappointing and will not be accepted. He is known for making lame statements but that does not give him the right to comment on anything that will affect the peace in the country,’ Afzal told ANI.

Taking potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, Abdullah had earlier this week earlier come out in support of stone pelters in Kashmir.
"If he (stone pelting youth) is giving up his life, he is not doing it for tourism. He is giving his life so that the destiny of this nation is decided which should be acceptable to the people of this place. This needs to be understood," he said at an election meeting in Sonawar constituency in Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah is contesting the by-election to Srinagar Lok Sabha seat as the joint candidate of opposition National Conference and Congress. The polling in the constituency will be held on April 9.
