Cross-border terror and radicalisation pose grave challenges to security: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that  cross-border terrorism and radicalisation were grave challenges to security.

Addressing a joint conference with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, PM Modi said, "Terrorism and radicalisation have threatened the very fabric of our societies. It is my firm belief that those who believe in peace and humanity need to stand and act together."

Welcoming the PM of Singapore, Modi said, "You are a friend of India, it is an honour for me to welcome you here today."

"During my visit last year, we had drawn a road map to realise our ambitious agenda. Our defence and security cooperation is a key pillar of our strategic partnership," he added.

The Prime Minister also said that if there is one country that seemed to act in the present, but was alive to the future, it was Singapore.

Meanwhile, PM Lee Hsien Loong said that Singapore also condemned terrorism in all forms, adding, "I would like to extend my condolences to the Indian government and the families of the soldiers who lost their  lives in Uri Attack."

India and Singapore inked three pacts, including one on technical education and skill development.
