CPI state secretary awarded six months' imprisonment

Six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 were awarded to Communist Party of India's (CPI) Andhra Pradesh State Secretary K Ramakrishna and five others by the First Additional Munsif Magistrate Anitha here on Wednesday.

However, they were given bail after they applied for it, on the basis of sureties. The police had filed a case under Sections 147, 448, 427, 353 of the Indian Penal Code and others, under the charge that Ramakrishna and others obstructed work of government officials.

The magistrate also sentenced five others including CPI's district secretary T Srinivasa Rao.
