The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha on Tuesday flayed the CPI-M leadership for trying to "hush up" the injury sustained by party MLA P Jayarajan's son while handling explosive substance after polling hours on Apr 16 and asked the ruling party to clarify the matter.
CPI-M leadership should explain whether the MLA's 22-year-old son Ashish P Raj was injured in a bomb attack or while he was trying to assemble crude bomb after the polling hours at his native Paatyam, BJYM State president K Surendran told a press conference here.
Criticising police for registering a 'weak case' against the MLA's son for "reckless" handling of crackers, Surendran, who is BJP candidate from neighbouring Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency, alleged that no bomb squad had visited the spot nor police recorded version of the doctor who performed 'surgery' on Ashish Raj in a Kozhikode hospital.
The CPI-M local leaders maintained that the MLA's son and his friend were injured while carrying "left over crackers" bought for 'Vishu' festival after the polling hours at Paatyam where a Congress controlled club was damaged by hurling bombs around the same time.
