COVID-19: Night curfew announced in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, check guidelines

The DM arrived on this decision after reviewing it with police officers and officials of the medical department.

Keeping in view the the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey has decided to implement a night curfew in the district from Thursday (April 8) to April 17, 2021.

The night curfew will be in place from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am. The DM arrived on this decision after reviewing it with police officers and officials of the medical department. 

Night curfew has been imposed in various other districts of Uttar Pradesh as well. There will be a night curfew will be in Varanasi from Thursday (April 8), from 9 pm to morning. The morning time is yet to be announced.

In Prayagraj, a night curfew has been imposed from 10 pm to 8 am on Thursday till further notice. The District Magistrate informed that essential services will be exempted from the curfew. 

Owing to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases a night curfew has also been imposed in Uttar Pradesh`s capital Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi with effect from Thursday night.

In Lucknow, the night curfew will remain in place from 9 pm to 6 am and will continue till April 16 while in Kanpur the night curfew will be in place from 10 pm to 6 am and will continue till April 30.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minster Yogi Adityanath has called for an emergency meeting on Thursday, April 8, to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the state.

Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday (April 7) reported 4,689 COVID-19 cases taking the total active caseload tally in the state to 27,509. With 30 deaths on Wednesday, the death toll stands at 8,924.
