With the COVID-19 cases gradually decreasing in India, several states and Union Territories have started to ease lockdown curbs. However, the wave of COVID-19 continues in some parts of South India and northeast states.

The process of easing restrictions like lockdown in many states in India has started, while some states are still increasing the curbs.

Here is a list of states which have eased restrictions and states which have decided to keep restrictions:

Delhi Unlock:

Markets, malls and offices in the national capital reopened on Monday (June 7) after being shut for one-and-half months, with the police and district administration deploying teams across the city to enforce COVID-appropriate behaviour. Along with the reopening markets, government and private offices have also resumed work. The Metro services also resumed for the general public from Monday with a 50 per cent seating capacity.

Maharashtra Unlock:

A five-phased plan to unlock Maharashtra (Unlock 2.0) has come into force from Monday (June 7). The state has been divided into 48 units as per districts and municipal corporations, and five levels, depending on the positivity rate and occupancy of oxygenated beds. Level 1 has the least restrictions while Level 5 will have the most. Maharashtra is under lockdown till June 15. As per the new guidelines issued by the BMC, Restaurants, shops selling non-essential items, and public places are set to reopen from Monday in Mumbai but malls, theatres, and multiplexes will continue to remain shut. The restaurants to operate at 50 per cent capacity for dining till 4 pm on weekdays.

Uttar Pradesh Unlock:

A set of new guidelines for relaxation in COVID-19 curfew from Monday (June 7). Even as the fresh phase of unlocking began in Noida from today, the district will remain under complete lockdown on weekends post 7 PM.

Haryana Lockdown:

Haryana government on Sunday extended the lockdown in the state till June 14, 5 am. In the latest guidelines, shops, malls, restaurants, bars, and religious places have been permitted to reopen with certain conditions.

Bihar lockdown:

The lockdown is imposed in Bihar till June 8. The restrictions are expected to be eased. According to media reports, CM Nitish Kumar has taken feedback from all the district magistrates of the state regarding the situation of COVID-19. The strategy for unlocking will be made on the basis of DM's report.

Kerala lockdown:

The lockdown in Kerala is imposed since May 8 and has been extended till June 9. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the restrictions will begin from June 5 and continue till June 9.

During these five days, shops dealing in essential commodities will only be allowed to operate in Kerala. Vijayan also said that shops selling raw and construction materials for industrial establishments can also operate during the restricted period.

Punjab Lockdown:

Punjab on Thursday extended the restrictions in the state till June 10 after a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, as per a government statement.  However, extensive measures have been imposed like a weekend lockdown and a night curfew to check the spread of COVID-19 infection. 

Tamil Nadu Lockdown:

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday announced the extension of lockdown by another week till June 14 with some relaxation. The current lockdown comes to an end on June 7.

Karnataka Lockdown:

The Karnataka government, led by BS Yediyurappa, decided to extend the lockdown amid the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state. Just one day after Karnataka extended its ongoing lockdown till June 14, experts have now weighed in how the state can start planning for a phase-wise unlock as fresh COVID-19 cases are not falling at a uniform rate across Karnataka. Now, according to a report in The New Indian Express, experts have suggested the government implement an 'End of Circuit Breaker' model followed by Singapore.

Uttarakhand Lockdown:

The Uttarakhand government on Sunday extended the Covid restrictions till June 15, 6 AM in the state. The Covid curfew was supposed to end on June 9 in the state but now it has been extended for one more week.

Other States:

Gujarat has extended the night curfew in 36 cities of the state for a week, with further relaxation in timings.

Jammu and Kashmir administration has a night curfew and weekend lockdown.

The Sikkim government has announced the state-wide lockdown for one more week till June 14.

Chhattisgarh government has extended lockdown till further orders. Odisha has extended lockdown till June 17. Whereas, Himachal Pradesh and Goa have extended the restriction till June 14 with some relaxation.
