Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday stated that the situation pertaining to coronavirus was improving as there are only 26,000 active cases against projections of 60,000 active cases made by the Delhi government earlier this month.

"It was predicted that by 30th June Delhi would have 1 lakh cases out of which 60,000 would be active cases but today we only have 26,000 active cases. This is the result of everyone’s hard work. We have been able to control the situation," Kejriwal said.

However, he said that there is no time for complacency, and efforts need to continue with more vigour.

"The situation is improving in Delhi in the last few days. However, there is no room for complacency. This virus is unpredictable. We must continue our efforts with more vigour," Kejriwal added.

"There is a good indication, earlier around 31 out of 100 people whose samples were collected tested positive for #Coronavirus. Today, 13 out of 100 people test positive," Kejriwal further said.

Earlier, the Delhi government had decided to set up a plasma bank in Delhi to help treat patients suffering from coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

According to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the plasma bank will be started in the next two days.

The Chief Minister has appealed that patients recovering from COVID-19 donate plasma to the plasma bank to treat other patients.

The 'Plasma Bank' will be set-up at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in Delhi.

Plasma will, however, be provided to patients only on the written recommendation of a doctor.

The Delhi Chief Minister said that the Delhi government has decided to set up the plasma bank since the first plasma therapy trials were conducted in the national capital and the results proved to be promising.

Notably, this will be the first plasma bank in the country. Kejriwal said that of the 35 COVID-19 patients who were given plasma at the LNJP hospital over the past few days, 34 survived.

In Delhi, the total number of coronavirus cases stands at 26270, with 2742 deaths, and 58348 recoveries.
