The Kohima bench of the Gauhati High Court on Friday stayed a floor test of the Assembly scheduled for July 15 that had been called for by Governor PB Acharya. The court will hear the case on July 17.

Late Thursday night, the Nagaland People's Front (NPF) passed a resolution effectively withdrawing the suspension order of all the 10 NPF MLAs, who had been suspended from the party on July 8.

The resolution includes the revoking of the suspension order of Neiphiu Rio, who was suspended from the party in May 2016.

In the resolution dated July 13, of which DNA has a copy, NPF called the present crisis "an internal matter", and that the revoking of the suspension orders is to "bring about true reconciliation and better understanding for the sake of the party and in the larger interest of the Nagas."

NPF sources said that party leaders, despite their differences, are not keen to impose the President's rule in the state, which will mean that the Central government takes over the state's administration.

Discussions are rife about who can help end the crisis, and party leaders are even willing to discuss a leader apart from CM Shurhozelie Liezietsu, Rio or TR Zeliang, who could lead them out of the crisis. "Although it seems unlikely, the name of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Tokheho Yepthomi has been making the rounds," said a party source.

Meanwhile, the 37 MLAs lodged in Borgos resort at Kaziranga had to leave the resort and come back to Nagaland as flood waters enteried the resort's compound.

A state rescue force boat took the MLAs to waiting cars, who then left for Nagaland.
