Coronavirus in India: 315 positive cases of COVID-19 infection in country

The pandemic has claimed 11,375 lives globally while close to 2.75 lakh cases have been reported so far.

The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus rose to 315 on Saturday with the death toll reaching 4, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

The pandemic has claimed 11,375 lives globally while close to 2.75 lakh cases have been reported so far.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with Chief Ministers of all states via video conferencing to discuss measures to combat COVID-19.

Prime Minister said that the threat of the pandemic is common for all states and underscored the need for Centre and all states working together. He said that while participation of citizens is necessary to combat the challenge, but panic needs to be avoided. He added that given the global context of the spread of the virus in various countries, constant vigilance is of paramount importance.

He said that the next 3-4 weeks are crucial in efforts to contain the spread of the virus, and the most important measure for containment is ‘social distancing’. He requested the Chief Ministers to ensure effective implementation of the same.

Massive clashes have erupted inside the Dum Dum Jail in Kolkata. Inmates have allegedly vandalised the jail premises, attacked the jail officers, tried torching jail properties. 8 passengers who had travelled on AP Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi to Ramagundam on 13th March have tested positive of COVID-19 yesterday: Ministry of Railways

2 passengers marked with mandatory quarantine were found to be travelling on Rajdhani train between Bengaluru & Delhi today. They were immediately deboarded and the entire coach was sanitised. Citizens are advised to practice social distancing and follow quarantine requirements: Railways

Such cases are being found on Railways. Public is requested not to travel on passenger and long distance trains unless absolutely necessary. Be safe and keep others safe. Passengers are advised to avoid non essential travel for the safety of fellow citizens

Third case of Covid-19 reported in West Bengal. A 23-year-old MBA student, a resident of North 24 Parganas district had returned from Scotland yesterday. She had shown symptoms of Coronavirus and was admitted to the Beleghata ID&BG hospital. She has tested positive for Covid-19. She returned to Kolkata via Mumbai from Scotland yesterday. Her family members have been asked to go into home quarantine.

This girl who arrived at Kolkata airport yesterday passed through thermal screening. But she was feeling unwell. Without wasting any time she immediately rushed to the Government hospital Beleghata ID&BG where her tests were conducted. She remained admitted till she tested positive.
