As the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak continues to spread like wildfire across India, the central government is amping up efforts to build medical centers, quarantine units and continue with surveillance and tracing contacts.

The Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Wednesday stated that 773 positive cases and 32 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, which is the highest till now.

Meanwhile, in order to prevent health workers from being infected, the Centre is also following up on infection prevention and control measures. The Health Ministry also assured that there is enough stock of hydroxychloroquine available in the country. “It is ensured that not only today even in future there will not be any lack of HCQ (Hydroxychloroquine) as and when needed,’’ Lav Agarwal, Joint Secy, Health Ministry, said on Wednesday.

The Uttar Pradesh administration had a day earlier announced that coronavirus hotspots in 15 districts of the state, including Lucknow and Noida, will be sealed off to stop the spread of novel coronavirus as people residing in certain areas are not following the lockdown.
