The Andheri police have busted an overseas job racket and arrested four persons including the mastermind. The accused would hire employees and set up offices at plush commercial buildings in the city.

The accused have been identified as Goregaon resident Amit Patole, 39, Delhi resident and an engineer Harish Rathod, 28, and UP natives Sarfaraz Shaikh, 43 and Abdul Ansari, 29.

The accused would promise jobs abroad to the victim and take money from them. According to the police, Patole was instrumental in setting up offices in Mumbai while others allegedly induced victims to pay money for job and business visas.

"In 2014, a case was registered against the gang for cheating 180 persons while they were operating from Andheri. After shutting their operations in Andheri, they got back in business a fortnight ago and had set up an office at Goregaon. Before they could dupe more people, the group was nabbed on receipt of tip-off", said the officer.

"The group was operating since 2010 and have so far duped 464 persons in Delhi, 200 from Uttar Pradesh, 500 from Kandivli in Mumbai," said the officer.
