A day after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) issued a non-bailable warrant against former SP of West Midnapore district, Bharati Ghosh, on charges of disproportionate assets, Ghosh released a voice message alleging that it was a conspiracy against her to prevent her from joining any political party.

Issued on Saturday evening, the voice message said that there should be a probe into her assets by a Central agency. "I have heard that CID West Bengal has started a case of disproportionate assets against me at Kotwali PS, West Midnapore. I have requested my lawyer to put in a prayer at the High Court for investigation by Enforcement Directorate regarding all my assets," Ghosh said in the message and added that all her assets should be probed and if she was found clean, then the state government should tender an apology and the investigation should be completed within 30 days.

She alleged that the ruling state government had conspired against her. "The intention is to prevent me from speaking the truth... and to prevent me from joining any political party… It is a very well-planned, sinister conspiracy on part of the ruling party. I will fight this in the honourable court. The ED and IT should investigate and in case I am found clean, the ruling party should issue an official apology," it said.
