The Congress is gearing up hold protests on a massive scale on May 26 — on the occasion of completion of four years of Modi government — and observe it as Betrayal Day across India.

Releasing the protest poster 'India Betrayed' on Wednesday, Congress general secretary in-charge of organisation Ashok Gehlot said the PCC presidents and general secretary in-charge of all the states would be doing programmes to expose Modi government on every count of promises it made and what it delivered.

"Prime Minister Modi has betrayed every section of the society, be it giving 1.5 times of the MSP to the farmers or 2 crore jobs to the youth every year. The common man is reeling under unprecedented hike in fuel prices. SC/STs, minorities are feeling unsafe everywhere. The Congress will expose Modi government on all these issues by holding dharnas and rallies across the nation," said Gehlot exuding confidence after Karnataka government formation.

He said Congress and like-minded parties will fight the 2019 elections together with the main motive of getting rid of the Modi government that has pushed the country on the path of disaster.

With Congress communication head Randeep Surjewala on his side, Gehlot also advised PM Modi to stop lying on every count.

"I want to give him an advice, please stop telling lies. I am saying this because I am worried about PM's credibility. If the credibility of our PM's goes down — in India or outside, it will harm the country," said Gehlot pointing out at PM's recent utterances in Karnataka elections and asking him to read the correct history syllabus.

He also accused the BJP of using astronomical amounts of money during election campaign wondering if the BJP has planted trees of money in its offices and farmhouses.

Gehlot also mocked at PM Modi for his penchant for travelling abroad but all his visits turning into zero sum game.

"He has just been to Russia which is our time tested friend but now for the first time is having joint military exercises with Pakistan and also supplying it arms," Gehlot said.

Targeting the poll bound Madhya Pradesh, the Congress with Rahul Gandhi in lead will launch protest against the state government's anti farmer policies at Mandsaur on June 6, Surjewala said.

Congress is also launching massive protests against the fuel price hike.

"The Modi government has been exposed badly as it has collected Rs 10 lakh crore in last four years by fleecing the pockets of common people of India. 21 states which are ruled by BJP and its allies impose an average VAT of 25% and collect another Rs. 7 to 8 lakh crore in last four years out of petrol and diesel."

"Whereas interest rates are being slashed where ever people have deposited thier hard earned money be it banks, the EPFO, PPF, Kisan Vikas Patra or Sukanya Smridhi Yojana Is this not betrayal of people of India?" Surjewala said.
