Congress is likely to hold back on announcing its list for Gujarat Assembly polls for a few more days till there is clarity on its on-going talks with Patidar leaders led by Hardik Patel even as Central Election Committee of Congress chaired by party chief Sonia Gandhi held deliberations for the second time on Friday.

Sources said that a group of leaders from Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti met Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel and AICC in-charge for Gujarat Ashok Gehlot separately.

Emerging from the CEC meeting, Gehlot told reporters that a discussion had been completed on almost all the seats but the list of candidates will be released in a day or two as talks on an alliance with Sharad Pawar's NCP and JDU were also going on.

"All the 182 seats may have been discussed but we will have to leave our claim on some seats when the alliance happens," he said adding that both JDU and NCP want to have an alliance with Congress and vice versa.

On a day when the Election Commission recognised Nitish Kumar's JD-U as the party and allotted the arrow symbol to it, Gehlot said that that it has now split into two and Congress is talking to Sharad Yadav regarding the alliance with Chhotu Bhaavi Vasava led party in Gujarat.

"We are also talking to NCP and when the discussions are complete, we will release our list," he said.

NCP had in the high pitched Rajya Sabha polls in Gujarat a few months had sided with BJP. Both its MLAs in Gujarat had voted for the BJP and Ahmed Patel could emerge victorious only after Vasava's vote in its favour and Election Commission declaring two other votes null and void.

PAAS leader Hardik Patel has met senior leader of NCP Praful Patel a number of times in recent days, fueling speculations.

Gujarat goes to poll in two phases on December 9 and December 14. The election result will be declared on December 18. In first phase 89 of 182 seats will go to polls and the party is keen to declare candidates all the 89 seats at least on November 16.
