PM Modi in a rally in Gurdaspur, Punjab hit out at Congress attacking them on multiple issues. Continuing his lollypop jibe at Congress for loan waiver which BJP believes is conditional in nature, PM Modi said,'Just like Congress deceived the nation with its Garibi Hatao slogan, now it is doing so with its promise of farm loan waivers''. Incidentally, Garibi Hatao was a very famous slogan given by late PM Indira Gandhi which touched people's heart. Congress after coming back to power in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh have decided to implement farm loan waiver. They have also demanded NDA in centre to waive outstanding farm loans.

However, PM Modi in an interview made it clear that farm loan waiver isn't exactly the way to go to improve the financial health of peasents. He also said that while Congress is claiming to have waived farm loan, but in reality, it is putting different conditions about who will be the beneficiaries.

PM also attacked Navjot Singh Sidhu for his actions in Pakistan during the Kartarpur corridor issue. PM said," Just for their politics, Congress leaders gave a chance to Pakistan, surprising that these Congress leaders did not even pay heed to their own Punjab CM". PM alluded to the open disagreement between captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu during the opening of the corridor. While Sidhu dubbed Pakistan as a friend, Amarinder Singh said was far more circumspect and said that the neighbours can't be trusted.

PM Modi also hit out at Congress for their alleged cover-up of the accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riot case. Recently Sajjan Kumar was sent to jail by Delhi HC for his role during the riots. Referring to the incident, PM said.," Ek Parivar ke ishaare par jin jin aaropiyon ko 'sajjan' bata kar file daba di gayi, NDA sarkar ne unko bahar nikala, SIT ka gathan kiya aur parinaam sabke saamne hai".  PM said that on the instructions of one Family, many files of accused were buried. But the NDA has ensured those cases are re-opened,

Congress has done well electorally in Punjab in the recent past. It comprehensively won the last assembly elections and has been getting a massive victory in municipality and panchayat level polls too. Fully aware that BJP-SAD has an uphill task in the state in the upcoming election, PM Modi said that the people of Punjab and the country should be wary of Congress. To back up his assertion PM said,"Jinka itihaas hazaron Sikh bhai behno ko berahmi se hatya ka ho aur jo aaj bhi dango ke aaropiyon ko mukhyamantri pad ka puruskar de rahe hain": that is Congress whose history is tainted owing to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots are still rewarding accused by giving them CM post. This is in context of Kamal Nath, who has been elevated to the post of Madhya Pradesh CM by Congress. The senior Congress leader on his party has denied any connection with the anti-Sikh riots.
