The Congress has slammed PM Narendra Modi for announcing an unexpected visit to Lahore, Pakistan to meet PM Nawaz Sharif. The two will meet at Lahore airport.

"If the decision is not preposterous then it is utterly ridiculous," said Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari. "This adventure of PM Modi is going to have serious implications on India's national security", he claimed.

"Have relations with Pakistan improved that PM is meeting Pakistan PM today, without taking the people into confidence?", Congress leader Ajoy Kumar argued.

However, BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli praised the decision.

"Better relations with Pakistan are in the interest of the region. We will keep raising our concerns too. If two countries can try to work out a relation that brings peace not only between them but the entire region, it is something to be welcomed," he said.
