Congress seeks to put lid on Robert Vadra issue

Questions on Robert Vadra's altercation with electronic media were raised at the AICC briefing on Monday with Congress seeking to put a lid on the matter after a statement backing the son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi.

Party spokesman Ajoy Kumar, who faced a volley of questions, insisted that Congress has put forward its viewpoint through a statement by his colleague Randeep Surjewala yesterday. "You cannot ask different spokesmen for different responses," he said, adding that the party's response was fundamentally from the perspective of its government in Haryana.

Vadra had two days ago lost his cool and reportedly pushed aside the microphone of a reporter at a five-star hotel gym when he was quizzed about his controversial land deals in Haryana. A livid Vadra was seen on a video footage shown on TV channels asking the reporter four times as to whether he was serious about his land deal question. On Sunday, the party had said that the "repeated hounding" of an individual is "not appropriate" and advised the media to avoid "unpleasantness" of shooting questions at private functions, like what happened to him.
