Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday slammed the main Opposition Congress over its onslaught on the Rafale fighter jet deal, saying it was looking for alliance partners outside the country. "The Congress has lost its mental balance after losing power. After not finding any in India, it's looking for alliance partners outside the country... Now will a foreign country decide who will be the country's Prime Minister?" he asked.

Addressing 'Karyakarta Mahakumbh', a grand assembly of party workers on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Modi lamented that since joining the office in 2001, he has been constantly abused. "No cuss word available in the dictionary was spared against me. However, the more the mud-slinging grew, lotus went on to bloom further and BJP kept on compiling wins," he said. The event was attended by four to five lakh party workers and bolstered the morale of CM Shivraj, who is at present beleaguered with problems like upper caste resistance and corruption allegations.

In a scathing attack, Modi said the 125-year-old party was in tatters and one needs a microscope to find its existence these days. Instead of introspecting its losses, the Congress is begging for alliances with smaller parties. "There is nothing left in Congress. It has become a burden on the country," he said. Modi also came down heavily on vote bank politics, which according to him destroyed the country for petty political gains. "It is a responsibility of BJP to rid the country from vote bank politics," he said. Saying that even Islamic countries don't approve Triple Talaq, Modi said his government discarding vote bank fears stepped up for ensuring justice to Muslim women.

Referring to the great leaders, Prime Minister said the country can never forget three great men — Mahatma Gandhi, Ram Manohar Lohia and Deen Dayal Upadhyay. They guided the country and through their work took the country to new heights. He clarified that the BJP's ideology is identified with 'Ekatma Manavvad' or integral humanism, no other political party in the world is working on this ideology of humanism.

BJP president Amit Shah also took a dig at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, wondering if he has formed a 'mahagathbandhan' (grand alliance) with Pakistan as both are saying 'Modi hatao' (remove Modi). Affirming that NRC won't be scrapped at any cost, Shah flayed Congress criticism on NRC and asked if it backed the ouster of infiltrators or not.
