The Congress on Monday ridiculed BJP president Amit Shah for targeting its vice-president Rahul Gandhi in the BJP national executive meeting here. Taking on Rahul's remarks during his recent visit to the US, Shah said the Congress vice president had undermined India.

Party's chief spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said these are the questions Rahul has been raising but there are no answers from the BJP.

Another spokesperson Manish Tiwari questioned BJP leaders' claims that there has been no corruption by the BJP in past years. He said the difficulty with the BJP is that they are absolutely selective to remember their own corruption. From the escape of Vijay Mallya, to giving travel documents to Lalit Modi, VYAPAM scam in Madhya Pradesh, PDS Scam in Chandigarh and Srijan scam in Bihar, the BJP slate was not as clean, he said.

Tiwari also accused the BJP government of disrupting social harmony in this country.

"They have subverted the federal framework of this country. They have played havoc with internal security. They have completely and absolutely demolished the economy. On International relations, this government does not know whether it is coming or going," Tiwari said.

Tiwari said the economic mismanagement has resulted in a jobless situation. "This government has failed to deliver on all the commitments and it is this frustration which is making them fall back on the politics of polarisation, divisiveness, and subversion," he said.

On Rahul's statements against the PM abroad, Congress spokesperson that there used to be an unspoken consensus in this country till 2014, that when you leave the shores of India, you leave your politics behind. But the consensus was broken by the PM. "If the BJP is reaping what they have sown, I don't think Shah should be shedding crocodile tears over it," he said.
