Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday held Congress responsible for backwardness of the state, and said the state could not prosper due to bad governance of the previous regime.

Addressing a public meeting in Weir constituency in Bharatpur district, Raje said that other states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh made progress only in few years but the state could not go ahead on the path of development because of Congress.

She said the state government took an initiative to reach out to people to know and address their problems and started 'Sarkar Apke Dwar' programme at the division level. "Under this programme, we have reached out to people in 14 districts under three divisions so far and will cover remaining areas in coming months," she said.

She also held responsible the former Congress government for not giving five per cent reservation to Gujjar community and other castes in education and jobs.

Raje said the state government has reintroduced Bhamashah scheme for women empowerment.
