Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Wednesday hinted that the party may be looking at alliance options for 2017 UP assembly polls.

“The situation at present is that Congress is planning to contest all seats. However, the future remains to be seen,” he told mediapersons in Patna on Wednesday. He said, “It is too premature to speak anything about UP polls. Congress Vice- President Rahul Gandhi is touring the state and preparing a candidates’ list.”

He said Congress has always been against the ideologies of RSS, BJP and AIMIM and discussions should be held with all parties that are against'perpetrators of communal violence'.

On the ongoing feud within the Samajwadi Party, Singh said it was a family dispute and not a battle of ideologies. “It is their party matter and they will resolve it,” he said.

Earlier in the day, he also visited RJD boss Lalu Prasad, who is also a relative of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. He was in the state to appear in a Vaishali court on a matter pertaining to calling yoga guru Baba Ramdev a “thug” and was granted bail by the court on Wednesday.

Singh said the Tripple Talaq issue should be left on the Muslims instead of the government trying to force it on them. He also pitched for all party consensus on Uniform Civil Code.
